Springfield actress weds TV co-star
Actress Paige Turco has never let the whims of show business rain on her parade, so she wasn’t about to let changes in the weather spoil her wedding day, either.
The Springfield native married her TV co-star Jason O’Mara Sept. 19 during Hurricane Isabel’s visit to Old Saybrook, Conn., where the wedding was held.
“They said they were going to get married even if they had to wear fishing gear,” said Joyce Turco, the mother of the bride.
Paige Turco most recently performed on CBS show “The Agency.” The show was a CIA-based drama but it turned into a romance for Turco – it’s where she met O’Mara, her co-star on the show. Turco has proven to be a versatile thespian and a show business survivor. She started out in the soap operas “The Guiding Light” and “All My Children.” She then moved easily onto the silver screen, appearing in several “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” films, before returning to television, playing on “NYPD Blue.” More recently she worked on the Fox drama “Party of Five” before landing the role of Terri Lowell on the recently canceled “The Agency.”
Turco and O’Mara kept their relationship quiet on the set of the show, her mother said. And based on the couple’s first scene together, the rest of the cast probably wouldn’t have guessed any romance was in the offing. According to Joyce Turco, O’Mara threw a theatrical punch during the scene, but Turco forgot to duck. “It broke the skin over her eye and she had to go to the hospital,” Turco’s mother said. “He felt terrible.” This auspicious start to the couple’s history led to their choice of Nat King Cole’s “Orange Colored Sky” as their first dance song. The lyric contains the lines: “I was walking along minding my business/When love came and hit me in the eye/Flash! Bam! Alakazam!/Out of an orange-colored sky.”
